The program can be used for a wide range of tasks including:
(1)
Calculating the surface pressure distributions on the surface of
an aircraft.
These pressures can be integrated to obtain
the lift, drag and moments acting
on the
aircraft. This is useful for ascessing the stability of a configuration
and
determining the optimal CG position.
The pressure distribution can also be
used to design better
fuselage shapes that reduce drag, improve knife edge
flight and reduce problems associated
with ring root vortices etc.
(2)_The flow about the aircraft can be visualized
enabling the effect of wing tip
vortices,
wing root fairings and tail position etc to be determined on the
performance and handling of
the aircraft.
(3) Investigating the behaviour of the boundary
layer and predicting theonset of
flow separation.
(4) The effects of engine power can also be investigated.
For a better explanation of the capabilities of
the program see Aerologic's web site.
