MERLIN
By Tom Koenig
Merlin is a current
F3A ship designed and built by Tom Koenig a good F3A Buddy.
Tom designed and
built this patternship. The detail and craftsmanship
are of world champs
standard as you can see.
It looks as good
as it flies. A very slow precise and graceful aircraft with
flight characteristics
and looks reminiscent of the Flamingo.
Right: Tom at 1998 Australian Masters.
Painted spinner and Dalby exhaust system.
The paint stays on too.

TECHNICAL
STUFF
on
the Merlin
Left: Pics showing
detailed attention and workmanship. Model currently if fittedwith
YS 120/140 systems
with plenty of room for other motors. Tom Has fixed and
retract versions,
the latter for windy comps. The model is balsa/ply built up
construction.
Plans are available from Tom. Ask about the cowel.
Right: More views
of the first model in pink which has been upgraded(see blue
model). Tom has
been experimenting with 3 and 4 bladed APC propellors. The
model flies well
with these multi bladed props. It tracks well and the downward
braking with the 4 blader gives it an excellent constant speed. The model
is very graceful,
steady in the air and the roll characteristics are particularly excellent.
