| Who is Jesus? |
We at St Andrew's, St Matthew's & St Saviour's are a community of people who have found the answer to the meaning of life in Jesus. He is our friend. He has led us to peace with God. Though he lived on earth some 50 generations ago, and though he died by crucifixion for our sakes, yet he rose from the dead and he is alive today. He is in heaven, yet he is still with us. He will return one day to take us to be with him in heaven, along with all those who trust in him.Though he took on a human nature some 2000 years ago, yet he always existed, and it was through him and for him that everything that exists was created. He is the ruler of the universe, who will one day be acknowledged as such by everyone. We at St Andrew's eagerly await that day.
We want you to know about Jesus, so that you too can share in the peace which only he gives.
We know about Jesus from the Bible which is God's word for us. These are some of the passages about Jesus which we treasure:
* Jesus is our Friend.
Jesus said, "I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you." (John 15:15)
* Jesus has led us to peace with God.
"For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God" (1 Peter 3:18)"We have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ" (Romans 5:1)Jesus said, "Come unto me ... and I will give you rest." (Matthew 11:28)* Jesus is with us, even today, and forever."I will be with you always, to the very end of the age." (Matthew 28:20)* Jesus will return to take those who trust him to be with him in heaven."He will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring to salvation those who are waiting for him." ( Hebrews 9:28)* Jesus always existed and it was through him and for him that everything that exists was created."I will come back and take you to be with me." (John 14:3)
"For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him." Colossians 1:16"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made which was made." (John 1:1-3)* Jesus is the ruler of the universe and will one day be acknowledged as such by everyone."Therefore God exulted him to the highest place, and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father." (Philippians 2:9-11)* Jesus gives us the peace that no one else can give.Jesus said, "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid." (John 14:27)"And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." (Philippians 4:7)
