Programmes 2012

The Foundation wants to promote and enable as much
discussion as possible within our families
and communities about peace-building stories.
Join
a Peace Story
Circle
in your area.
Peace Story Circles invite any adults who are involved with parenting, caring or working with
children of all ages to become a part of a regular monthly meeting group to
explore how peace-building stories can be shared with them. Each
month a new story will be discussed and ideas shared in
relation to how it might be used with children. The TLP peace-building
elements will help guide the discussions.
At each meeting-
Community bookshops and libraries supporting the programme
will provide a continually updated list of stories that will be either available for
purchasing or will be able to be borrowed. This list will be continually updated and made available as a
download at the TLP website. The website will also provide opportunities for
further sharing of
ideas and experiences via
Peace Story
Forums.
We also hope to develop
Peace Story Circle groups in schools and community libraries for young people interested in
exploring peace-building novels. Please let us know if you think your school
library of community library would be interested in hosting a
Peace Story Circle
for either adults or young people. We also want to hear from bookshops
that would be interested
in supporting the programme in your area.
Return to this page if you are interested in joining a
Peace Story Circle group near you. Venues, dates and areas will be updated and listed here.
Please register your interest by emailing us. We plan to begin operation in late
May 2012 in Adelaide South Australia.
Peace Story Circles
have been inspired by the international work of Dolly Parton and her
initiative for encouraging reading in under 5 year olds titled
Imagination Library (www.imaginationlibrary.com) and the Peace
Circles work of Helen Mills and Jean Brown in Australia and their
involvement with Initiatives for Change (www.iofc.org/creators-of-peace).
We want
to hear from you.
