Greens rewarded for four and half years of Council Administration

Its been a good election for the Greens with substantial swings to them across all five Randwick City Council wards but not enough in South and Central Wards to take new seats.

Re-elected Greens Councillor Murray Matson states that the party "…has been rewarded for demonstrating to the voters that the Council has been in better hands under the influence of the Greens for the last four and half years than when under the former Labor regime."

In North Ward Council's only woman Margaret Woodsmith gained a 10% swing taking her to around 33% of the primary vote while next door in East Ward Clr Matson moved up from 25% to 31%.

Sitting West Ward Greens Councillor Bradley Hughes moved from 13% to 22%.

In Central Ward Lindsay Shurey pushed the Green vote up from 13% to 18% but is trailing independent Anthony Andrews by around 3%.

In South Ward David Allison pushed the Greens vote from 10% to 15% but had to fight to the "Craig Wing" factor that has dragged contentious former Councillor Charles Mathew back onto Council.
