OUTCOME: The Greens have successfully moved that the Council’s General Manager be delegated to set up a busking competition as part of Council’s 2007 Events Program, hopefully in the Lexington Place shopping strip.

Greens Councillor Murray Matson said,

“At the moment we are planning prizes for both the best professional buskers and the best amateur local buskers. I believe that it could help revitalize Lexington Place by involving the local community including housing commission residents. I would like to see it become an annual event on the entertainment calendar similar to Coogee’s night theatre shows and the now annual Sydney Bike Art Ride.”
