Community Consultation on Proposals to Re-Align Historic Arden Street Retaining
Walls to Allow Private Development Proposal.
12.7 Proposed Residential Development for 155-157 Arden
Street, Coogee on Historic Sandstone Retaining Wall and the Streetscape of
Arden Street.
BACKGROUND. Council is currently seeking independent advice
on the contentious proposal to realign the historic Arden Street sand stone
retaining walls to permit off street parking on the proposed 155-157 Arden
Street development site.
OUTCOME. The Greens successfully moved that a
community consultation process be commenced in the new year on the outcome of
the advice.
During the debate, Labor Councillor Dominic Sullivan,
a resident of the street, declared an interest in the matter.
A significant number of residents attended the Council
meeting to listen to the debate.
