Contentious
Approval for Coach & Horses Hotel Hours of Operation Extension Still
Stands.
Randwick’s Green
Councillors have attempted to overturn the contentious extension of drinking
hours at a local hotel but were again out voted by Labor and Liberal
Councillors.
A company
associated with the Coach and Horses Hotel donated $5,000 funds to Labor’s 2004
Council election campaign in Randwick.
After the meeting
Greens Cr Matson said,
“The Liberal candidate for Coogee has called for a new ‘Way Forward’
in dealing with unruly behaviour by drunks.
But Liberal Councillors have just voted with Labor to reaffirm the
extension of drinking hours at the Coach & Horses despite recommendations
from the Police that it not be approved.
If the Liberal candidate wants a new way forward on Coogee’s
drinking problems he should ask his Liberal colleagues to stop voting with
Labor in favor of the pubs.”
Councillors
Hughes (Greens), Matson (Greens), Notley-Smith (Liberal), and Woodsmith
(Greens) voted against the extension of hours.
Councillors,
Andrews (Labor), Bastic (Labor),
Belleli (Liberal), Kenny (independent), Nash (Liberal), Procopiadis
(Labor), Sullivan (Labor), Tracey (Labor), and White (Labor) voted to
reaffirm the extension.
