Greens Wary of Councillor Reduction Debate

Local Greens wouldn't support reducing the number of Councillors on Randwick City Council.

Liberal Mayor Ted Seng has signaled the need for a debate on the idea via an announcement in last week's Mayoral Column in the Southern Courier.

Greens Councillor Murray Matson said this week,

“The Greens have always felt that Randwick City Council was too big to allow for a reduction in Councillor numbers. Less Councillors will just mean more residents having trouble contacting a smaller number of elected representatives when they need to. Some residents will feel disenfranchised.”
