Randwick Deputy Mayor Represents Council at Premier's Community Forum at Randwick Labor Club

home

Deputy Mayor Murray Matson has represented Randwick City Council at this morning's community forum with Premier Lemma at the Randwick Labor Club.

Cr Matson raised three issues with the Premier.

HEFFRON PARK SPORTING COMPLEX UPGRADE

Cr Matson noted to the Premier that the Council has now formerly adopted the Master Plan for the proposal but has yet to determine a

sustainable funding option for the $40 million project. He directly asked that the regional value of the proposal to residents across the eastern suburbs be recognised by some level of State Government funding.

LIGHT RAIL

Cr Matson detailed Randwick City Council's City Wide Transport Study that proposes a light rail link from Central Station to UNSW with a

connection to Green Square Station. He noted Council's disappointment that the State Government's Metro Strategy does not propose light rail

for the Eastern Suburbs.

LIQUOR ACT

Cr Matson reiterated Randwick Council's resolution of last year to oppose any weakening of the ability of residents to appeal under section

104 of the Liquor Act 1982 to the Liquor Administration Board about poorly run pubs and clubs.

The community forum included representatives of local Council's, surf clubs, schools, chambers of commerce, social service providers and other community interests.
