Randwick Council Adopts Pro Light Rail 20 Year Strategic Plan

home

Randwick City Councillors applauded the adoption of the pro-light rail Randwick City Plan last Tuesday night.

Greens Councillor Murray Matson had just praised the Plan as a “step forward for light rail”.

The new Randwick City Plan lists “Integrated and Accessible Transport” as a desired outcome for the area. One of the strategic directions Council will take to achieve this outcome will be to,

“Advocate and/or plan for integrated local and regional transport improvements, including high capacity transport such as light/standard rail.”

Latter in the meeting the Council resolved to write to both Cr Daley and Kristina Keneally (MP for Heffron) asking them to clarify why they opposed the return of Light Rail to the eastern suburbs.

Greens Councillor Murray Matson stated that,

“Cr Daley is becoming increasingly out of step with his Council's endorsement of light rail because as an MP he is trapped by the State Government's anti light rail policies.”
