Dear Editor
Right of Reply to Michael Bracken's
attack against me (6-6-06)
Randwick's Labor Councillors have voted against seeking doller-for-doller-funding from the state government for the Heffron Park upgrade.
Was this to avoid forcing Labor MP (and Councillor) Michael Daley to irritate the Labor State Government for the first time in his life?
Or was it because so-called “community” activist Michael Bracken is actually a member of the Maroubra branch of the ALP that ALP Councillor Chris Bastic calls home?
Bracken has convinced Daley and Bastic to adopt his private sector partnership funding method for building Heffron i.e. the same way the Labor Party built the Cross City Tunnel.
Bracken is an entrepreneur who admitted at a recent Council meeting that he and some private sector friends were willing to build and run a tennis court complex at Heffron Park.
The community currently owns the old pool and sport courts but won't own the new ones if Bracken, Bastic and Daley get away with privatising the Heffron Park upgrade.
These guys can only do this if they prevent the Council from finding another funding source – and thats why the local ALP will be not be asking the State government for money.
Some one in the ALP with real community values should go down to Marourba and shoo the vultures off the local branch.
